Paul is delighted to announce, in partnership with his brother Peter, the acquisition of the Alfriston Gallery in June 2006
The association between Paul Evans and the Alfriston Gallery has been a long and fruitful one. The gallery was opened in 1979 by Gillian Wills and Vincent
Ruggerio, and was one of the first regular outlets for Paul's paintings, together with the Ralph Lewis Gallery in Brighton, soon
after his graduation from Eastbourne College of Art.
In fact he was already painting and drawing his evocative images of the Cuckmere Valley long before this - walking at all times of day and through each
season, something he continues to this day - and it has proved to be one of the richest sources of insiration for Paul throughout his life as a painter.
Paul took over ownership of the Alfriston Gallery for a while during the late eighties and early nineties, and is delighted that the Gallery is now "back in the family"
after being acquired by his brother Peter this year. Peter and Paul will naturally be working closely together, ensuring that the Gallery has a wide
and eclectic selection of Paul's paintings of the Cuckmere Valley and Sussex, together with work produced in response to his experiences
and travels both in this country and abroad.
To Complement Paul's work in the newly refurbished gallery there will also be a selection of paintings, original prints, ceramics and cards by
other fine artists, featuring Gallery regular Chris Osborne, and newcomers to Alfriston including Robert Greenhalf, Pat Armstrong and Lizzi Stevens.
